Our mission is to lend support to the school administration and staff, parents, and students to ensure compliance with federal guidelines set in place for the district. It is our goal to ensure that every child and his or her family receive a complete educational experience. Our aim is to help students and their family understand their rights and responsibilities, and help them make use of the many resources the district has available..

This department of the Leake County School District is primarily responsible for all aspects of federal programs. On January 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This Act redefines the federal role in K-12 education and will help close the achievement gap between the disadvantaged, at-risk students, and minority students. It is four basic principles: stronger accountability for results, increased flexibility and local control, expanded options for parents, and an emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven to work. It is based on four guiding principles:

 1. Accountability and Assessment

 2. Parental Involvement

 3. Research Based Programs (including High-Quality Educators)

 4. Flexibility

Title I is the largest federal funding source to the school district. It is designed to provide supplemental resources to enrich and accelerate the curriculum and to ensure that students meet the challenges of state academic standards.School wide designs use their funds to enhance the entire instructional programs of the schools in Leake County School District. The intent of the program is to assist disadvantaged children, which will be achieved by improving the total educational environment.

The purpose of this grant is to provide the district financial assistance to improve teacher and principal quality through professional development to increase student academic achievement.

The purpose of this program is to ensure that limited English proficient students, including immigrants, master the English language in order to meet the same standards for academic achievement as all other students.

This program is to deter violence and the use of alcohol and drugs in and around schools.

The purpose of this program is to provide additional funds to rural districts to focus on meeting specific educational goals and objectives related to increasing student achievement and decreasing the student dropout rate.
