Superintendent
Dr. Joe Nelson

My Promise

When I started my educational career many years ago, I had one goal…to ensure every student who entered my classroom reached their fullest potential! All these years later, that goal is still the same for the students of Leake County!

I could not be more honored to be the Superintendent of this amazing school district! The hard work and dedication shown by the students, community, staff, and school board have created a strong foundation to prepare us for all that we will accomplish in creating a world-class education system right here in Leake County School District!

To my future leaders, the "why" that explains why Dr. Nelson straightens his bowtie and works with everything he has daily is you, the students! If someone had told me at your age that I would be Superintendent of the mighty Gator Nation of Leake County, I wouldn't have believed them! I am only here today because someone spoke life into me and allowed me to see that I could be anything I set my mind to. It is my goal that each one of you will be prepared with a world-class education at Leake County School District that will equip you with the tools and resources needed to make an even greater impact on this world! I can promise each one of you that I will show up every day in excellence to make this a reality, and my only ask is that you fully embrace your academic career and commit to being great! I can't wait to see what each of you will accomplish!

To the Leake County Community, I want you to know that I do not take the responsibility that I have been entrusted with lightly. I am grateful for the opportunity of educating our future leaders, workers, business owners, doctors, lawyers, artists, athletes, and astronauts! I am genuinely excited to be on this journey because I am one who believes that to see the full success of a school system is to see the full success of the community it represents. As we work together to ensure that our students become even more than our minds could have comprehended, I know that it will come to pass because of the roles each of you will play as partners on this journey. My promise to you is that I will do everything I can to build a world-class education that will positively impact generations to come; my only ask is that we stay connected and involved to reach each of our young leaders!

To the Leake County School District Teachers, Administrators, Assistants, Cafeteria Staff, Janitorial Team, School Board, and everyone else working within the walls of our dynamic schools, I want to take the time to let you know how much I admire everything that you have done to impact the lives of our future leaders! You have held us up during an unprecedented time, and I am grateful to work with each of you to create and implement a world-class educational system that will have a generational impact! I have seen the work that you have done and know that as we come together, rowing in the same direction, we will accomplish something special together. I can promise you that I will fight every day to ensure you have everything you need to make an impact. I can promise you that I will always listen to your voice when you let me know what you need to help make a difference in the lives of our young leaders. I can promise you that I will always be willing to roll up my sleeves and do the work beside you! My only ask of you is that you take care of yourself! A happy, healthy teacher creates happy, healthy eager students!

Again, I can not stress enough how grateful I am to be the Superintendent of Leake County School District, and I look forward to seeing everything we accomplish together! We are #GatorNation! #GoGators!
